Can I Edit a Submitted Reference in Referoo?
This article applies to referees who have already submitted a reference and need to correct or update information they provided.
Overview
Once a reference has been submitted in Referoo, most details are locked to protect the integrity of the submitted reference. Editing is limited after submission. However, there is a clear process for requesting changes — the right channel depends on the type of update needed.
❗️IMPORTANT❗: Referoo Support can only assist with editing while a reference has not yet been fully submitted. Once submitted, all change requests must go through the recruiter directly.
Editing After Submission
After a reference is submitted, the following applies based on what needs to change.
Contact and Role Details
Contact details and role information — including name, email address, phone number, job title, and your relationship to the candidate — are locked after submission.
To update any of these, contact the recruiter directly.
✅ TIP:The recruiter's contact details can be found in two places: in the top-right corner of the Referoo screen, or in the signature of the email invitation you received when asked to complete this reference.
Questionnaire Responses
Answers submitted in the reference questionnaire cannot be edited by the referee after submission.
To request a change to a questionnaire response, contact the recruiter directly using the details above. Explain which answer you need to update and why. The recruiter will take the appropriate action from there.
When Referoo Support Can Help
Referoo Support can assist referees while a reference is in progress and not yet fully submitted. Once submitted, Support cannot edit the submitted content on your behalf.
Contact Referoo Support if:
- You have not yet submitted your reference and are having trouble accessing or completing it
- You encountered a technical error during the submission process
- You are unsure whether your reference was successfully submitted

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I edit my reference after I have submitted it?
No. Once a reference is fully submitted in Referoo, referees cannot edit their responses directly. If you need to make a change, contact the recruiter who sent you the reference request. Their details are in the top-right corner of the Referoo screen or in the email invitation you received.
I made a mistake in my contact details. How do I fix it?
For small typos, contact Referoo Support via the chatbox. For phone number or email changes, please contact your recruiter—they can update your details for you. Their contact info is in the top-right corner of your Referoo screen or in your invitation email.
I gave the wrong answer to a questionnaire question. What do I do?
Reach out to the recruiter directly and explain which question you need to update and what the correct answer should be. The recruiter is responsible for managing submitted questionnaire responses.
Can Referoo Support edit my submitted reference for me?
No. Referoo Support cannot edit a submitted reference. Support can only assist while a reference is still in progress and has not yet been fully submitted. For any changes after submission, the recruiter is the correct contact.
How do I know if my reference was successfully submitted?
You’ll see green ticks across all sections on your dashboard once your reference is submitted. If you’re unsure, contact Referoo Support via chat and we can confirm for you.
